Hotels in Calumet City: One in Town, the Rest Are in Indiana
Posted in :
Calumet City sits directly on the Indiana state line, and that is the thing to watch when booking. Search any major hotel brand for Calumet City and most of what you are offered is in Hammond or Munster, Indiana — a different state, with different taxes.

The one hotel in Calumet City
Baymont by Wyndham Chicago/Calumet City, 510 East End Avenue, Calumet City, IL 60409. Phone 708-251-1164. Recently renovated according to the brand.
That is the list. Hilton has no property here at all: its own Calumet City page returns nineteen hotels, every one of them somewhere else, with the nearest in Munster and Hammond, Indiana. IHG has none. Choice has none, with its nearest in Lansing, Illinois.
Check the state before you book
Calumet City is about nineteen miles south of the Loop and shares State Line Road with Hammond. The practical effect is that a search for “Calumet City” will hand you Indiana hotels without making it obvious. Read the address, not the search heading.
There is also a nearby name trap: Calumet Park is a different municipality, ZIP 60827, about twelve miles west. A Days Inn there is often returned for Calumet City searches.
There is no Metra station here
Worth being blunt about, because it undermines the main reason to stay this far south. The Metra Electric District has no station in Calumet City. The line runs from Millennium Station to University Park with South Chicago and Blue Island branches.
And there is a name trap here too: the Metra station called “Calumet” is in East Hazel Crest, not Calumet City. If you are booking here as a cheap rail-served base for Chicago, that plan does not work. You will be driving.
