Campers can look at Gambrill State Park. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources lists Rock Run Campground with seasonal sites from April through October and four camper cabins. The park requires reservations through its online system.

The Francis Scott Key Marriott Listing Could Not Be Verified

The old version of this guide named a Francis Scott Key Marriott in historic downtown. We found no Marriott hotel by this name in current listings. The Francis Scott Key Mall has a neighboring hotel, and the 2017 trade story shows this hotel now operates as the Clarion Inn.

A real Marriott project does exist downtown. Davis Construction reports a full-service Marriott hotel and conference center on the Carroll Creek corridor. The hotel will hold 204 rooms and a 250-space public parking garage. Construction began in February 2026, and the opening target is 2027. You cannot book a stay there yet.

Treat any listing for a downtown Marriott in 2026 as premature. A reservation at a hotel still under construction leaves you without a room.

Where to Stay in Frederick for Downtown Sightseeing
