Hotels in Grand Falls-Windsor: What We Confirmed
Table of Contents
Mount Peyton Resort and Conference Centre
Mount Peyton is the largest lodging in town. Frommers calls the brick property the town’s largest hotel and motel. The address is 214 Lincoln Road. Call 709-489-2251 for the front desk.
The property has two sections. Seasonal motel units sit on the north side of the Trans-Canada Highway. Year-round hotel rooms sit on the south side. A booking-site listing counts 149 guest rooms across the two buildings. We could not confirm the room count with the owner, so treat the number as approximate.
The listing names Executive King, Executive Queen, family, and standard rooms. All rooms have air conditioning, according to Frommers. The listing also names a restaurant called Clem’s Dining Room, a fitness center, a bar, and conference space. Cooked-to-order breakfast runs daily from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM for a fee. Parking is free and the lot has EV charging stations.
Check-in starts at 3:00 PM and check-out ends at noon. The front desk runs around the clock. Guests must be 18 or older. Pets are allowed with advance notice and extra fees, so call before you bring a dog or cat. The property’s old website address now redirects to a domain sale page, so use the phone number instead.
Frommers warns of highway noise. Guest reviews on one booking site praise the location and the restaurant but mention aging facilities. Ask for a quiet room when you call. Choose Mount Peyton if you want the most rooms, an on-site restaurant, or space for a group.
Hotel Robin Hood and Suites
Hotel Robin Hood is a smaller, family-run hotel at 78 Lincoln Road. The Newfoundland and Labrador tourism listing gives the phone as 709-489-5324 and says the hotel overlooks the Exploits River. Frommers describes the hotel as a slower-paced alternative to Mount Peyton.
Sources disagree on the room count. The tourism listing says 22 rooms. A booking site says 17. Ask the front desk for the current number. The tourism listing names air conditioning in every room, private bathrooms, rooms with two beds, a business services center, Wi-Fi, a balcony or deck, and barbecue facilities. Rooms carry no smoking.
The tourism listing says breakfast comes free. A booking site calls the breakfast continental and notes a conflicting line in its own FAQ. Confirm breakfast when you reserve.
Check-in runs from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Check-out runs from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Children under 10 stay free without an extra bed. The main guest must be 21 or older. The hotel does not allow pets, but service animals are welcome. No cots or extra beds are available. The building has no elevator, so ask for a ground-floor room if stairs are a problem.
Pick Hotel Robin Hood if you want a quieter, smaller hotel with a river setting.
The Carriage House Inn
The Carriage House Inn is a bed and breakfast at 181 Grenfell Heights. The tourism listing gives the phone as 709-489-7912 and a toll-free line at 800-563-7133. A hotels.com listing counts 13 rooms. The tourism listing agrees on 13 rooms.
Both sources name free Wi-Fi, free parking, laundry facilities, and a complimentary breakfast. The hotels.com listing puts breakfast between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM. The listing also names a garden, a picnic area, a firepit, and on-site hiking and mountain biking trails. The tourism listing also says some rooms have a jacuzzi, a fireplace, or a kitchenette. We could not confirm which rooms have which features, so ask when you book.
The inn offers six room types, from standard and junior rooms to deluxe and honeymoon rooms. Check-in starts at 3:30 PM and check-out ends at 11:00 AM. No front desk operates, and a host greets each guest. Guests must be 18 or older. The inn does not allow pets. The building has no elevator.
Pick the Carriage House Inn if you want a full breakfast, garden space, and trails at your door.
Hill Road Manor Bed and Breakfast
Hill Road Manor stands at 1 Hill Road. Call 709-489-5451 or email info@hillroadmanor.ca. The Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador member page and the inn’s own website both give the address and phone.
The inn calls itself a boutique bed and breakfast. The decor mixes antique furnishings with modern amenities. The website lists five guest rooms named Birch, Pine, Maple, Aspen, and Spruce. The inn won the 2023 Bed and Breakfast Award of Excellence from Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador. A booking-site listing includes breakfast.
The member page lists the inn as open year-round. The inn sits near Grand Falls, the Exploits Valley Arts and Culture Centre, and Rafting Newfoundland. We found no confirmed check-in times, so ask when you call. Choose Hill Road Manor if you want a small, quiet house with only five rooms.
Riverside Suites
Riverside Suites is a small suite property at 72 High Street in the Windsor part of town. Call 709-486-9679. A trip.com listing counts only four rooms, and a TripAdvisor listing places the property in Grand Falls-Windsor and describes newly renovated suites. Another listing notes a hot tub suite.
The trip.com listing names a two-bedroom apartment, two double rooms, and a romantic suite with a hot tub. Rooms have a refrigerator, a television, air conditioning, and a private bathroom. Parking and Wi-Fi are free, and on-site laundry is available.
Check-in runs from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Check-out ends at 11:00 AM. The front desk runs from 8:30 AM to 10:30 PM. The listing says no breakfast comes with the room. Children must be 6 or older, no cribs or extra beds are available, pets are not allowed, and guests must be 18 or older.
Four rooms fill fast. Call early if you want this property.
Westwood Inn and Suites
The Newfoundland and Labrador tourism listing names Westwood Inn and Suites at Route 1, Exit 17. The listing counts 17 rooms, some with two beds and kitchenettes. All rooms have private bathrooms. The listing says pets are welcome and room service is available.
TripAdvisor also lists a Westwood Inn in town. We found no phone number and no second source for current amenities. Treat the details as unconfirmed and call before you plan around this inn.
Motels in Grand Falls-Windsor
Motel choices are limited. The motel units at Mount Peyton are the one motel option we could confirm. Frommers says the units sit on the north side of the Trans-Canada Highway and run seasonally. Ask the front desk for the dates before you book.
Expedia and Travelocity run motel category pages for the town. We could not open the listings to confirm any other motel name, so we do not list one. If you want a roadside room, call Mount Peyton first and then check Westwood Inn and Suites near Exit 17.
Other Lodging We Could Not Confirm
TripAdvisor also lists Riverfront Chalets, Highliner Country Inn, and Lakeside Lodge and Resort in the Grand Falls-Windsor area. The Riverfront Chalets listing mentions an outdoor hot tub along the river. We found only the one TripAdvisor source for each property, with no address, phone, or amenity detail. Do not book any of the three without a phone or email confirmation of the address, the season, and the room types.
Chains do not dominate the town. We found no confirmed national-brand hotel on our sources, so we name none.
RV and Camping: Sanger Memorial RV Park
Travelers with an RV can stay at Sanger Memorial RV Park at 15 Scott Avenue. Call 709-489-8780 or 709-489-7350. The Newfoundland and Labrador tourism listing gives a season from May 19 to September 22 and counts 47 campsites. Sites have electric, water, and sewer hookups. Pull-through and extra-large lots exist.
The park sits on the Exploits River. A comfort station has private showers. The park has laundry, a social center, a horseshoe pit, and shuffleboard. Walking trails link to Gorge Municipal Park. Pets are welcome and the park has Wi-Fi. Season dates can shift, so confirm by phone before you travel in May or September.
Where to Stay Near Grand Falls-Windsor Attractions
The town packs its main sights into a small area. The Salmonid Interpretation Centre stands at 100 Taylor Road. Call 709-489-2192. The centre explains the Atlantic salmon life cycle and shows fish using a purpose-built salmon ladder. An underground observation area lets you watch the fish up close. The listing gave no season, so call before you visit.
The Demasduit Regional Museum, formerly the Mary March Provincial Museum, covers a 5,000-year human history of the area, including the Beothuk. Our old guide used the former museum name, so you may still see the old name on older maps and sites. We did not confirm current hours.
The Exploits Valley tourism page also names the Corduroy Brook Nature Trail and a nature centre with wetland exhibits. In winter the Mid Winter Bivver festival offers snowmobile rides, night rides, and live entertainment. Hill Road Manor sits close to the Exploits Valley Arts and Culture Centre and Rafting Newfoundland, according to the inn.
Most lodging sits along Lincoln Road and the Trans-Canada Highway, with the inns near Grenfell Heights and Hill Road a short ride away. We did not source drive times. Check a map for your route.
