Hotels in Salford: Nearly All of Them Say Manchester
Posted in :
Almost every hotel in Salford sells itself as Manchester. That is the single most useful thing to know here, and it runs one way only: properties with Salford postcodes brand themselves Manchester, never the reverse. Filter a booking site by “Manchester” and you get Salford hotels; filter by “Salford” and you miss some of them. Judge these by tram stop, not by name.

Salford Quays and MediaCityUK
These are in Salford, whatever the names say. The Quays are served by three Metrolink stops, Broadway, MediaCityUK and Harbour City, with a six-minute service at peak times. Salford Quays itself runs trams to Eccles via MediaCityUK and to Ashton-under-Lyne.

- Premier Inn Manchester Salford Media City, phone 0333 234 6548, and Premier Inn Manchester Salford Quays, phone 0333 321 1296. Premier Inn does not publish full street addresses for either on its brand pages, so we are not printing ones we cannot source.
Salford next to the city centre
The Chapel Wharf and Salford Central area is in Salford but walkable into central Manchester, which is why these market themselves as city centre hotels.
- The Lowry Hotel, 50 Dearmans Place, Salford, M3 5LH. Phone 0161 827 4000. The sharpest example of the naming problem: a Salford address marketed as Manchester city centre.
- Premier Inn Manchester City Centre West, phone 0333 321 9367. Near the Irwell by Salford Central. Premier Inn files it under Salford in its own URLs but does not publish a street address on the brand page.
Old Trafford is not in Salford
If you are booking for a match or a Test, note that both Old Trafford grounds are in Trafford, a separate borough from both Salford and Manchester. Lancashire’s cricket ground and Manchester United’s stadium are both there. A hotel marketed on stadium proximity is likely in neither Salford nor Manchester, so check the postcode rather than the name.
Do not trust the brands’ own area filters
Travelodge’s Salford page lists twelve hotels including Trafford Park, Sale, Didsbury, Piccadilly and Sportcity, which are in Trafford and Manchester. Only Manchester Salford Quays on that list is verifiably in Salford. Premier Inn manages the opposite error, omitting its own Salford Media City hotel from its Salford index while listing two city centre properties under it. Neither filter is a boundary guide.
