Williamstown Hotels: Where to Stay in Massachusetts

Williamstown hotels checked against two sources: the Williams Inn, Fairfield Inn, Main Street motels and the 1896 House. See phones and what to confirm.

Williamstown hotels cluster in two places. A newer inn sits near Williams College, and a row of motels lines Main Street, also called Route 2. Inns and country lodgings spread along Route 7. This guide covers every Williamstown, Massachusetts lodging we could confirm, shows where details differ between sources, and helps you pick a base for the Clark Art Institute, MASS MoCA, the Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Mount Greylock. We quote no rates, because rates change daily. Where we could not confirm a detail, we say so and tell you to call.

Hotels in Williamstown MA: What We Confirmed

The Williams Inn

The Williams Inn stands at 101 Spring Street, Williamstown, MA 01267. Call 413-458-9371 or write to Reservations@WilliamsInn.com. Hotel Management reported the new building opened in 2019 as a three-story, 64-room property of 58,000 square feet. Cambridge firm CambridgeSeven designed the building, and Waterford Hotel Group operates the inn.

The inn lists queen rooms, king rooms, king suites, and accessible rooms, including a king junior accessible suite of 470 square feet. Guests find a fitness center, free Wi-Fi, on-site parking, and a small market for sundries. One regional inn directory also lists electric vehicle charging and pet-friendly rooms. The inn site does not mention pets, so call before you bring a dog.

The Barn Kitchen and Bar serves seasonal, locally sourced food. Hotel Management counted 62 seats, two private dining spaces, and seasonal outdoor seating. The inn offers meeting and event space for up to 390 guests, so weddings and college events can fill the building. Book early for graduation, parents weekend, and summer theatre weeks.

We could not find posted check-in and check-out times. Ask when you reserve. Choose the Williams Inn if you want a full-service hotel with a restaurant near the college.

Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Williamstown

This hotel stands at 430 Main Street, Route 2. The phone number in the Williams College lodging list is 413-458-7333. A local radio report said the 94-room hotel opened in December 2019. Hotel Guides and AAA both list check-in at 4:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM.

Both sources list a heated indoor pool, a hot tub, an exercise room, free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and free parking. AAA adds a coffeemaker, a microwave, and a refrigerator in guest rooms. Both sources say pets are not allowed in rooms, so look elsewhere if you travel with a dog.

Pick this hotel if you want a pool, a hot breakfast, and a chain brand with loyalty points. Confirm the breakfast hours and the room type by phone.

Howard Johnson by Wyndham Williamstown

Howard Johnson stands at 213 Main Street. Call 413-458-8158. The Wyndham page lists a free light breakfast, a 24-hour front desk, free Wi-Fi for Wyndham Rewards members, and a microwave and refrigerator in rooms. The page also says the pool is closed for maintenance until further notice.

Another directory lists 37 rooms on one floor, check-in at 3:00 PM, check-out at 11:00 AM, and an outdoor summer pool. Sources disagree about the pool, and the Wyndham page gives no pet policy, so ask both questions on the phone. Do not book this property for the pool without a confirmation.

Choose this property if you want a simple room on Main Street and a front desk open all night.

Williamstown Motel

Williamstown Motel stands at 295 Main Street. The Williams College lodging list gives the phone as 413-458-5202 and marks the motel as pet friendly. A New England travel directory lists 18 rooms on one floor with one queen bed or two queen beds. The same directory lists a heated pool, a continental breakfast, free internet, free parking, and a barbecue and picnic area.

The directory says the motel opened in 1980 and received a renovation in January 2013. The directory lists check-in at 2:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM. We could not confirm the current owner or the current pet fee. Call before you arrive.

Our old guide named a Williams Motel. We found no lodging under Williams Motel. This listing is the closest match on the same road, but we cannot prove the two are one property.

Maple Terrace Motel

Maple Terrace Motel stands at 555 Main Street. Call 413-458-9677. The Williams College list marks the motel as dog friendly and within walking distance of campus. A booking listing describes seven rooms, including two suites, plus a seasonal outdoor pool, gardens, a picnic area, a fire pit, and free Wi-Fi.

The listing gives a front desk window of 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM, check-in from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and check-out by 11:00 AM. A free continental breakfast runs from 7:30 to 10:00 AM. Pets are allowed on request, and the minimum guest age is 18.

These details come from a single booking listing, so confirm each one by phone. With only seven rooms, the motel fills fast in summer and during fall color.

The 1896 House stands at 910 Cold Spring Road, Route 7, Williamstown, MA 01267. Call 413-458-1896 or the toll-free line, 888-999-1896. The inn site lists 36 rooms across three buildings. Barnside Luxury Suites, Brookside Country Inn, and Pondside Country Inn make up the lodging, and the grounds cover 17 acres with brooks, ponds, and gardens.

The 6 House Pub serves guests and the public. The site mentions a terrace with a fire pit and kids and dog menus. Stay and dine packages appear on the site. We found no posted check-in times, pool details, or guest room pet rules, so ask about each one.

Our old guide called this property a bed and breakfast. The inn site describes an inn with a pub, so we dropped the bed and breakfast label. Choose the 1896 House if you want a country setting on Route 7 with a restaurant on the grounds.

Choose the Williams Inn if you want a restaurant, a fitness center, and a walk to campus. The Williams College list marks the inn as within walking distance.

Choose Fairfield Inn and Suites if you want an indoor pool and a hot breakfast. Choose the Howard Johnson only after you confirm the pool status.

Choose a Main Street motel such as Maple Terrace or Williamstown Motel if you want a simple room on Main Street. Both list continental breakfast and a pool, and both lists come from single directories.

Choose the 1896 House if you want a country lodging with a pub on the grounds. Travelers with dogs should call first. Several motels and the Williams Inn appear in sources as pet friendly, but the Fairfield Inn does not allow pets in rooms.

Before you pay, confirm the property name on the building, the cancellation policy, parking, breakfast hours, and the front desk hours for late arrivals. Ask for the total with taxes and fees. Prices shift by date, so compare two booking sites and a direct phone quote.

What We Checked and What We Could Not

We checked the 1896 House against its own site and the college list.

We checked attractions against the Clark Art Institute, the Williams College Museum of Art, MASS MoCA, Mount Greylock State Reservation, and the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

We could not confirm current rates, check-in times at the Williams Inn and the 1896 House, the Howard Johnson pool, or pet fees. Our old guide named a Williams Motel, and we found no property with this name. Phone numbers and policies change, so confirm each detail before you travel.
