Germ Trips carries affiliate links to hotel, flight, transfer and activity booking partners. If you book through one, we earn a commission. You pay the same price either way. That sentence appears on our about page, and this is the longer version, because a one-line disclosure does not really tell you what you want to know.
What earns money
Booking widgets and links to accommodation, flights, transfers and attraction tickets. The commission comes out of the operator’s margin, not added to your bill. If you visit a guide, read it and book somewhere else entirely, the guide has still done its job and we have earned nothing. That is a normal outcome and it does not change how the next guide gets written.
What does not earn money, and never will
- Nobody pays to be featured. There is no paid placement, no sponsored slot in a list, and no arrangement where a business buys its way into a guide.
- Commission does not decide the recommendation. Where a guide names a specific restaurant, hotel or operator, it is because that is the answer to the question the page asks.
- We publish guides that recommend not booking. Plenty of towns we cover have no hotel or restaurant worth the trip, and the guide says so and points at the nearest place that does. Those pages earn less than a page full of options. They are still the honest answer.
Where this shows up
The most visible case is our airport guides. Every fare, opening time and pickup location in them comes from the airport authority or the transit operator, and where nothing official is published we say so instead of estimating. A booking widget on the same page does not change what the transit page said.
If you think a guide got it wrong
Tell us. Send the page address and what has changed through the contact page. Prices move, restaurants close, and shuttle routes get cut. Corrections from readers are the fastest way this site stays useful, and they are read by the person who writes it.
