Paris Catacombs Tickets: 243 Steps and 14 Degrees
Posted in :
The Catacombs closed in November 2025 for new electrical, ventilation and fire-safety systems and reopened on 8 April 2026 with a new route and a new audio guide. Anything written before that is describing a different visit.
Prices
- Full rate: €31, and the audio guide is now included rather than extra.
- Reduced: €25. Children 8 to 17: €15. Under 8: free.
Book online. The official pre-visit page says online booking only, released 7 days in advance, while the homepage says strongly recommended. Treat 7 days as the working window and do not count on walking up.
One exception worth knowing: free-entitlement tickets cannot be bought online at all. Those are issued at the desk on the day, on production of proof.
Who should not go down
This is a 1.5 kilometre one-way walk of about 45 minutes, with 131 steps down and 112 back up. It holds around 14°C and is very humid year-round, so summer clothing is a mistake. It is not wheelchair accessible and is not advised for anyone with motor, cardiac or respiratory conditions.
Bags over 40 by 30 by 20 centimetres are refused, along with suitcases, strollers and helmets. There is nowhere to leave them.
Open Tuesday to Sunday 9.45am to 8.30pm, last admission 7.30pm. Closed Mondays, 1 January, 1 May and 25 December.
