The one hotel
The Red Lion Inn, 71 South Main Street, Cohasset, MA 02025. Phone 781-383-1704. Fifteen suites, each with a fireplace, plus the Red Lion Tavern and a barn event space. Confirmed open and taking bookings on its own site, with no seasonal closure.
Two naming cautions. It appears variously as The Red Lion Inn, Red Lion Inn at Cohasset Village and, on some booking sites, “The Red Lion Inn Resort 1704”. And it is not the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, which is a much larger and entirely unrelated Berkshires hotel.
The Cohasset Harbor Inn is gone
The fifty-room Cohasset Harbor Inn at 124 Elm Street was demolished. The site is now a luxury condominium development that broke ground in September 2022, and the inn’s own domain no longer resolves.
It still appears on several travel and booking sites, one of them under the name “Cohasset Harbor Resort”, which reads like a live property. More awkward still, a page belonging to the former operator group is still online describing the inn in the present tense, footer dated 2017. If you find that page, it is not current.
The condominium development that replaced it is housing for sale, not lodging. There is no successor hotel.

The train makes one hotel workable
Cohasset is on the MBTA Greenbush line, at 110 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Zone 4, running direct to Boston South Station. The station has 387 parking spaces at $2 a day, weekdays and weekends, and a full high-level platform with level boarding.
Cheap parking plus a direct Boston train is an unusually good combination for a small coastal town, and it is what makes a single fifteen-suite inn viable as a base. One catch: there are no ticket machines at the station, so buy before you arrive or use the app.
