Hotels in Kalispell: No Glacier Vehicle Reservations in 2026

Kalispell is a Glacier National Park base with an airport, and the most important thing to know for 2026 has changed. Glacier is not requiring vehicle reservations this year. If you are reading guides that describe booking a timed entry slot for Going-to-the-Sun Road, they are out of date.

What Glacier actually requires in 2026

The National Park Service states plainly that vehicle reservations will not be required in 2026. Two things replace them:

  • A three-hour parking limit at Logan Pass, from 1 July to 7 September 2026.
  • A ticketed shuttle at $1 a ticket, which is how you stay at Logan Pass longer than three hours. You still need a park entrance pass on top of the shuttle ticket.

One honest gap: at the time of checking, the Park Service’s shuttle page said it was still being worked on, so where and how you buy those tickets is not yet published. Check the NPS site closer to your trip rather than trusting a third-party account of it.

The airport is in Kalispell

Glacier Park International Airport, code FCA, is at 4170 Highway 2 East, Kalispell, phone 406-257-5994. The name says Glacier Park but the address is Kalispell, which is part of why the town works as a base.

For distances, the Park Service puts West Glacier at about 33 miles from Kalispell and the airport about 30 miles from the west entrance. Whitefish is closer to the park; Kalispell trades a slightly longer drive for more rooms and the airport. We have not found an official figure for the Whitefish drive, so we are not quoting one.

On summer pricing: we could not confirm peak-season rates from any primary source, only from booking sites, so we are not putting a number on it. Book early for July and August and judge the price yourself.

The guides aim for practical detail and a clear recommendation rather than an undifferentiated list. Where a town has no good option, the guides say so and point to the nearest one that does. Guides are AI drafted. A small number have been checked against official listings, and those say so on the page.
