Milton is easy to reach without a car
This is the useful part. Milton has no hotels but unusually good rail access: the Mattapan Trolley runs five stations inside the town — Cedar Grove, Butler, Milton, Central Avenue and Valley Road — and connects at Ashmont straight onto the Red Line.
So staying in Boston or Quincy and travelling in by rail is genuinely practical, which is not true of most towns with no accommodation of their own.
