Emirates Chauffeur-drive is real, complimentary, and covers over 75 cities including London, New York (both JFK and Newark) and Los Angeles. Of the airline chauffeur programmes people search for, it is the one that still does what it is said to do — Qantas withdrew its version in 2020 and Virgin Atlantic’s stopped being free the same year.
What follows is the eligibility, taken from Emirates’ own terms rather than from other write-ups, because that is where the traps are.
Who actually qualifies
- First Class on Emirates-operated flights qualifies.
- Business Class qualifies only on Saver, Flex and Flex Plus fares. Emirates’ cheapest Business tier is not on that list. This is the single most common reason people are refused a car they expected.
- Premium Economy does not qualify at all. The benefit covers First and Business only.
- Classic Reward redemptions have been excluded since 1 March 2019, along with complimentary upgrades, Economy-to-Business Skywards upgrades, complimentary tickets, and award tickets booked through Skywards partner airlines.
- Codeshares are excluded where Emirates is the marketing carrier only, and tickets booked through Qantas have been excluded since 1 May 2022.
- Waitlisted passengers, tickets collected on departure and unaccompanied minors are excluded.
The details most write-ups get wrong
- One car per adult, not one per booking. Two adults on one booking are entitled to two cars.
- Not available in transit cities where you have less than 24 hours between connecting flights.
- The car cannot cross a national border from the country of the departure or arrival airport.
- The pick-up time is not negotiable once set.
- Only available where your fare permits a stopover.
Booking it
Arrange the pickup at least 10 hours before your flight, either when you book the ticket or later through Manage Your Booking. Emirates contact centres and travel agents can also arrange it.
Mileage limits, and why no numbers appear here
Emirates sets a complimentary mileage limit that varies by city, and beyond it you pay excess mileage directly to the driver at local rates, in cash. That much is in the terms. The actual allowance for London, New York or Los Angeles is not published anywhere we could verify — Emirates shows limits on an interactive map rather than as text, and the only figure stated in plain terms anywhere in its network is Riyadh’s 100km.
So we are not going to print a number. If a page tells you Emirates gives you a specific mileage in London, ask where that came from. Ask Emirates when you book — it is a fair question and they will tell you.
