Hotels in Augusta, Maine: All on the I-95 Strip

Every hotel in Augusta sits on the Western Avenue and Civic Center Drive strip beside I-95. There is no hotel downtown by the State House. That single fact decides most of what follows: if you are here for the Capitol, you will be driving to it, and the harder nights to book are midweek rather than weekends.

Why midweek is the hard part

Augusta is a working state capital, so its demand runs opposite to a holiday town. When the Legislature is sitting, Tuesday to Thursday nights on the Western Avenue strip fill with legislators, lobbyists and state business, and weekends are comparatively easy.

The Legislature’s own published schedule: the First Regular Session runs from the first Wednesday in December after a general election to the third Wednesday in June. The Second Regular Session runs from early January to the third Wednesday in April. Both can be extended. If your trip lands midweek inside those windows, book early.

One thing to ignore in search results

There is no Holiday Inn Express or any other IHG hotel in Augusta, Maine. Searching for one returns properties in Augusta, Georgia, and at least one booking site files a Waterville hotel under an Augusta address. If you think you have booked an IHG hotel in Augusta, Maine, check the state on your confirmation.

There is also no Fireside Inn in Augusta, despite listings suggesting otherwise. The nearest genuine one is in Waterville.

The guides aim for practical detail and a clear recommendation rather than an undifferentiated list. Where a town has no good option, the guides say so and point to the nearest one that does. Guides are AI drafted. A small number have been checked against official listings, and those say so on the page.
