The two hotels
- Hampton Inn Lewiston-Auburn, 15 Lincoln Street, Lewiston, ME 04240. Phone 207-344-1000. Despite the twin-city name, the address is in Lewiston.
- Clarion Hotel & Conference Center Lewiston, 490 Pleasant Street, ME 04240. Phone 207-705-3498. Read the next section before booking this one.
What happened at 490 Pleasant Street
This property traded as the Ramada and was closed by the city twice: in April 2024 over a failing fire alarm system, and again in January 2025 when a burst pipe in the fire suppression system flooded the conference centre.
It has since partially reopened under new ownership with about 53 licensed rooms in two wings only, and the conference and food facilities were still being restored. It has also changed brand from Ramada to Clarion.
So if you find a “Ramada Lewiston” on a booking site, that hotel does not exist under that name any more, and what replaced it is running at partial capacity. Ring before you rely on any facility beyond a bed.
Bates graduation sells out both cities
With two hotels in Lewiston and two in Auburn across the river, Bates College commencement empties the entire Lewiston-Auburn market. The published dates are 31 May 2026 (full weekend 29 to 31 May), 30 May 2027, 28 May 2028, 27 May 2029 and 26 May 2030.
If your trip falls on one of those weekends, book many months ahead or plan on Portland, about 40 minutes south.
The Colisée is still going
The Androscoggin Bank Colisée, 190 Birch Street, is an active venue holding about 3,677 for hockey and over 4,500 for concerts, with the Maine Nordiques as resident tenant. Event nights add pressure to a very small hotel market.
