The border crossing never closes
The Fort Kent port of entry to Clair, New Brunswick is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at 401 West Main Street. With one hotel in town, that matters more here than almost anywhere: Clair and Edmundston are immediately across the river, and the crossing will not shut on you at midnight. Bring a passport.
Do not confuse it with Estcourt Station further west, which opens 9am to 5pm and is closed at weekends and on holidays.
Two weekends when the town has nothing
- The Can-Am Crown sled dog races, early March, start on Main Street. The 2027 date has not been posted yet, so check the race’s own site rather than assuming.
- UMFK commencement, 8 May 2027, confirmed on the University of Maine System calendar. With one hotel, graduation weekend sells out across the whole St. John Valley.
