Where to Stay in Eastport, Maine: No Chains, and a Weekend-Only Ferry
Posted in :
Eastport is an island city, the easternmost in the United States, and it has no chain hotels at all. What it has is a handful of inns, B&Bs and a motel, most of them small. The thing that catches people out is not the rooms, it is the ferry: Lubec is three miles across the bay and forty miles by road.

Where to stay
- The Phoenix on Water Street, 73 and 75 Water Street, Eastport, ME 04631. Phone 207-853-7021. Note its website is thephoenixonwater.co, and the .com address redirects there.
- The Kilby House Inn B&B, 122 Water Street, ME 04631. Phone 207-853-0989 or 207-214-6455.
- The Todd House, 1 Capen Avenue, ME 04631. Phone 207-853-2328. Around $90 to $125 a night, booked directly with the innkeeper. Some directories give the address as Capen Street; the property says Avenue.
- Harris Point Shore Cabins & Motel, 24 Harris Point Road, ME 04631. Phone 207-853-4303. Chamber-listed, with a Facebook presence rather than a website.
- Rossport by the Sea, 54 Toll Bridge Road, ME 04631. Houses, cottages and cabins. Its own site publishes no phone number, so enquire through the site.
- Seaview RV Resort, 16 Norwood Road, ME 04631. Phone 207-853-4471. RV sites plus renovated cottages.
- The Motel East, 23 Water Street, ME 04631. Phone 207-853-4747. Its own site loads and the state listing shows seasonal hours, but it is absent from the current Chamber lodging list. Ring before relying on it.
The ferry only runs weekends, in season
This is the fact worth planning around. The Eastport to Lubec passenger ferry runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday only, mid-June to mid-September, leaving Eastport at 10am, noon, 2pm and 4pm. It is passenger only, no cars.
Outside that window, or with a car, the same journey is about forty miles and close to an hour by road. If you are combining Eastport with Lubec or Campobello, decide which side of the bay you are sleeping on before you book.
One correction to older guides: the surviving East Coast Ferries route runs Deer Island to Campobello, not from Eastport. Guides describing an Eastport departure on that service are out of date.
The two busy weekends
- Fourth of July, 3 to 6 July. Billed on its own site as the largest Fourth of July festival in Maine, and a bigger spike than most visitors expect. This is the harder weekend to book.
- Eastport Salmon Festival, 4 to 6 September 2026, Labor Day weekend. Often described as mid-September elsewhere, which is wrong.
One listing we could not confirm
Milliken House B&B, 29 Washington Street, still appears on Visit Maine and on the booking sites. It has been dropped from the current Eastport Chamber lodging list, has no website of its own, and carries an inn-for-sale listing. We could not establish it is taking bookings. Ring before you count on it.
