Walking into Florence Cathedral is free. No ticket, no booking. This is the single biggest source of confusion in Florence: the €30 pass is not for the cathedral, it is for everything around it.
The free cathedral queue is a different line from the dome queue. If all you want is the nave, join it and pay nothing.
The three passes
All valid three calendar days, one entry per monument.

All three include the Baptistery, the Opera Duomo Museum and Santa Reparata. Under-7s free. There is no dome-only ticket — the Brunelleschi Pass is the only route up.
The dome ticket is in your name
Since March 2025, dome tickets are nominative: name, surname and nationality are taken at purchase, cannot be changed afterwards, and photo ID is checked at the entrance.
Which means you cannot buy a spare for a friend, and you cannot shift your slot if the day changes. Nothing is modifiable, cancellable or refundable, and the grace period is five minutes.
On how far ahead it sells out, the Opera publishes nothing. What it does say is useful: ticket offices hold no extra dome inventory beyond what shows online. If the website says sold out, queuing in person will not help.
The climb
463 steps to the dome, no lift. The Campanile is 414, also no lift. Both are described as unsuitable for anyone with heart problems, vertigo or claustrophobia, or who is pregnant. Under-18s must be with an adult.
There is a compulsory free bag drop at Piazza Duomo 38/r — large bags and backpacks are not admitted, so build that detour in.
Cathedral 10.15am to 3.45pm Monday to Saturday, closed Sundays. Dome 8.15am to 6.45pm on weekdays. Museum closed the first Tuesday of each month. The Baptistery’s vault mosaics are currently under restoration.
