Milan Duomo Tickets: A Terraces Ticket Does Not Include the Cathedral
The Milan Duomo terraces ticket is rooftop only. To do the cathedral and the roof you need the Combo, 26 euros by lift or 22 by stairs.

The commonest and most annoying Duomo mistake: buying a terraces ticket, climbing the roof, then being turned back at the cathedral door. Terraces tickets are rooftop only.
The tickets
- Duomo only — €8. Duomo + Museum — €10, or €8 on Wednesdays.
- Terraces by lift €18, by stairs €16. Rooftop only, either way.
- Combo Lift €26 or Combo Stairs €22 — cathedral, terraces and museum, valid two days. This is the one most people actually want.
- Culture Pass €15 (cathedral, archaeological area, museum). Fast-track rooftops €28. Crypt of Saint Charles €3.50.
The nave is free for prayer; the €8 is for tourist visiting. The museum closes on Wednesdays, which is why the combined ticket drops to €8 that day.
Booking fees were abolished
Since April 2025 the Duomo charges no service or presale fee, so online and window prices match. Advice telling you to queue at the ticket office to dodge an online fee is out of date. Prices also rose that month — terraces by lift went from €16 to €18 — and the old “Duomo Pass” naming was replaced by Combo Lift, Combo Stairs and Culture Pass.
Groups booked through third parties are the exception: they pay a presale fee and must rent radio guides for parties of five or more.
The dress code is enforced, hats included
Sleeveless or low-cut tops, shorts, miniskirts and hats are not permitted inside the cathedral. The hat rule catches people out constantly. There is no cloakroom, and large rucksacks and luggage are refused entirely.
For the roof: comfortable shoes, no metal soles, and heels are strongly discouraged on the narrow passages. Under-12s cannot go up unaccompanied by an adult, and visitors with motor disabilities using aids can access only the Retrochoir area.
