It is registered at Companies House as Majestic Taxis & Chauffeur Cars Limited, company number 12170971, and it covers the UK only — London airports, UK cruise terminals and UK destinations. Any page describing a New York or Los Angeles branch is describing something that does not exist.
What it actually covers
- London airports: Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton transfers.
- UK cruise terminals: Southampton, Dover and Portsmouth — the long runs that black cabs will not quote sensibly for.
- UK point-to-point: its own site lists several hundred UK towns.
That cruise-terminal coverage is the genuinely useful part. Southampton is about 80 miles from central London and a pre-booked fixed price is usually the sane way to do it.
One thing we could not verify
Majestic’s website does not publish a TfL private hire operator licence number, a registered office address or its company number. Licensed London operators normally display the licence number, so we are noting its absence rather than reading anything into it — but it is the thing you should check before booking, and it is easy to check yourself.
How to check any London chauffeur firm in two minutes
This applies to every operator, not just this one, and it is the most useful thing on this page.
- Ask for the TfL private hire operator licence number. In London, any firm taking a booking for a private hire vehicle must hold one. A firm that will not give you the number is the answer to your question.
- Check the company at Companies House. Free, instant, and it tells you how long the company has existed, whether accounts are filed and whether it is heading for strike-off.
- Confirm the vehicle and driver are licensed, not just the operator. All three are licensed separately. The driver carries a badge; the car carries TfL discs.
- Get the fare in writing before travel. Private hire must be pre-booked and cannot be hailed — a car that offers you a ride in the street is not operating legally.
