Nice Airport to the City, Cannes and Monaco: The Tram and the Bus Numbers That Changed

The tram from Nice airport into the city costs 1.70 euros. There is no airport supplement, which is unusual, and the ride between the two terminals is free. The express buses to Cannes and Monaco still exist but they changed numbers, and most guides have not caught up. This page sets out what every option costs, checked against Nice Cote d’Azur Airport, Lignes d’Azur and ZOU in September 2026.

What each option costs

The tram, and the free bit

Tram line 2 runs from Terminal 2 through Terminal 1 and Grand Arenas into the city, to Jean Medecin and on to Port Lympia. Both terminals have their own stop, with Terminal 2 as the terminus.

The fare is the ordinary city fare, 1.70 euros. There is no airport premium, which puts Nice in a small minority of European airports.

The section between Terminal 2, Terminal 1 and Grand Arenas is free. Beyond Grand Arenas you need a validated ticket.

Trams come every seven to eight minutes on weekdays. The airport puts the run into the city at under 30 minutes, and Port Lympia at the far end is about 26 to 30. Jean Medecin is roughly 21 to 22 minutes, though that figure is from a secondary source.

The tram is also the only option here that traffic cannot touch, because line 2 runs 3.2 km underground through central Nice.

One thing to watch. Line B also leaves from Terminal 2 and it does not go to the city centre. It runs to CADAM, the administrative centre, in about 14 minutes. If you want Jean Medecin or the port, you want line 2.

First and last trams are disputed. Two sources give 05:24 on weekdays and a last at 00:15, another gives 05:20 and 23:51. We could not find a machine readable official timetable to settle it.

Tickets

The SOLO does not allow a return trip. The fare guide says so in as many words. If you are coming back, buy the AERO or a second ticket.

There are also no sales on board the tram or on the city buses. Buy before you board.

If you are touring the coast, the Pass Sud Azur Explore covers trains, trams and buses across the Alpes-Maritimes and Monaco at 35 euros for three days, 50 for seven and 80 for fourteen.

The express buses, and their new numbers

This is the correction most guides need. Line 110 to Monaco and line 250 to Cannes no longer exist under those numbers.

Children aged 4 to 11 pay half and under 4s go free. Ten trip books are 149.80 euros on lines 80 and 81 and 77.00 on line 82.

All three leave from Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is served on request only.

Line 80 reaches Monaco in about 30 minutes and Menton in about 1 hour 7. Line 81 reaches Cannes station in about 50 minutes. Line 82 reaches Antibes in about 47.

Note that line 81 does not start until 07:35. An early arrival has no express bus to Cannes and needs the train.

One unresolved conflict. The airport’s page says there are no sales on board and to buy before boarding. The same page and the ZOU timetables say on board purchase carries a 40 cent surcharge. Both statements are live.

The train

The airport has a rail connection at Nice Saint-Augustin, and it is genuinely walkable from Terminal 1.

There is a dedicated pedestrian walkway, seven minutes from Terminal 1 at exit door A0, under 500 metres. From Terminal 2 you take the tram free to Grand Arenas and walk about 500 metres from there.

Trains run every 15 minutes on weekdays between 05:50 and 22:00, then every 30 minutes until 23:30, on the Cannes to Nice to Monaco to Menton line.

Journey times from Saint-Augustin are about 14 minutes to Antibes, 25 to Cannes and 33 to Monaco. Those come from a secondary source.

We could not establish the fares. The regional operator describes a single flat regional fare and the same page says distance based, from 2.20 euros. Booking site prices from Nice-Ville show 6 to 10 euros to these destinations, which is a different origin. Check the actual fare for Nice Saint-Augustin before you rely on it.

What is clear is the comparison. The train reaches Cannes in about 25 minutes for a single figure fare. The bus takes about 50 minutes and costs 21.40.

Taxis

Fixed fares set by prefectural decree, published by the airport for 2026.

Read the airport’s own wording carefully. These are tax included but supplements excluded. What counts as a supplement is not published in a form we could read, because the full tariff document is a scanned image with no extractable text.

A receipt is compulsory on any fare of 25 euros or more.

The rank location is stated inconsistently. The French page says Terminal 1 gate A1 and Terminal 2 gate A3. The English page says A3 for both. Both are at arrivals level after baggage claim.

Uber and Bolt

Uber operates at Nice and publishes average fares: UberX 21 euros, Priority 23, Comfort 25, UberXL 36 and Van 46. Uber Reserve can be booked up to 90 days ahead with flight tracking and a fixed price.

Bolt operates in Nice including the airport and publishes no fares.

Where you meet them is the gap. The airport’s website has no private hire page at all, and its taxi and access pages do not mention it. We could not confirm a designated pickup point from an official source, so follow the pin in the app.

Between the terminals

The tram does it in under three minutes, free, on either line 2 or line B.

There is also a free electric shuttle every 15 minutes from 04:30 until the last flight, up to 01:30, though that one mainly connects the terminals to the remote car parks P4, P6, P8 and P9.

What we could not confirm

The official first and last tram times. Two secondary sources disagree.

What the taxi supplements are, since the tariff document is unreadable.

The designated private hire pickup point at the airport.

How much summer traffic adds on the coast road. No official source publishes a figure, and the ZOU timetables state plainly that their times assume normal traffic and are indicative only. The tram’s underground section is the one leg that is immune.
