Topkapı Palace Tickets: The Harem Is Already in the Price

Half the advice online tells you to budget for the Harem as an add-on. For foreign visitors that is no longer how it works. There is no palace-only ticket.

The prices, in lira

  • Combined — 2,750 TL for foreign visitors. Covers the palace, the Harem and Hagia Irene. Valid one day.
  • Domestic visitors 500 TL, reduced 250 TL.
  • Harem alone or Hagia Irene alone, 1,050 TL each for foreign visitors.
  • Night tour 4,000 TL.

Note the currency. Topkapı prices in Turkish lira, unlike Hagia Sophia, which prices foreign visitors in euro. Lira prices have been revised repeatedly and steeply, so treat any figure — including this one — as needing a check close to your travel date.

The Museum Pass does not cover it

Topkapı was transferred out of the Ministry of Culture to the National Palaces administration in September 2019. That is why it does not appear on muze.gov.tr and why the €105 Museum Pass Istanbul buys you nothing at its gate. The domestic MüzeKart carries exceptions covering the Harem and Hagia Irene sections.

Closed Tuesdays

Ticket office 09:00–17:00. Also closed on 1 January and the morning of the first day of Ramazan Bayramı. Give it three hours minimum — four courtyards, the treasury, the Harem and the terrace over the Bosphorus.

One warning: the old topkapisarayi.gov.tr site is abandoned, still serving 2015 content and prices that are wrong by orders of magnitude. The National Palaces page is the live authority.
