The Reichstag dome is free. No admission charge, no booking fee, no child or student tiers because there is nothing to pay.
What it costs you is precision. Access authorisations are personal and non-transferable, and the name on the booking must match the photo ID you present. A misspelling, a nickname, a friend’s booking — all refused, and there is no fixing it at the entrance.
What to bring
- 16 and over: valid official photo ID — national identity card or passport.
- 14 to 15: a document with name and photo, such as a student card.
- Originals only. Photocopies and photos of documents are not accepted.
Registration takes a full participant list — surname, first name and date of birth for everyone — through visite.bundestag.de.
Turned up without a booking?
Not necessarily lost. The Service Centre on Scheidemannstraße, opposite the Reichstag, can book you in the same day, subject to availability, with a minimum of two hours before your visit time.
It opens 8am to 8pm in summer, 8am to 6pm in winter, weekends 10am to 6pm, and closes at 2pm on Tuesdays in sitting weeks.
On how far ahead to book: the Bundestag publishes no minimum lead time and no booking horizon. Every “book three weeks ahead” figure you will read traces back to blogs, not to the Bundestag, so we are not repeating one.
Hours and 2026 closures
Admission every 15 minutes, last entry 9.45pm. Closed 24 December and from 4pm on 31 December.
Three maintenance shutdowns this autumn: 14–18 September, 28 September to 2 October, and 19–30 October. The roof terrace stays open throughout.
