You cannot visit Westminster Abbey as a sightseer on a Sunday. The Abbey is open to visitors Monday to Saturday. Sunday is services only — free to attend, entering by the Great West Door, but you are there to worship, not to tour.
If London is a weekend trip and Saturday is spoken for, the Abbey is out. Plan around it.
Prices, and a deadline
A temporary UK VAT cut on attraction tickets runs to 1 September 2026. After that these revert.

Under-6s free. Unlike some London attractions, the Abbey quotes clean figures with no Gift Aid uplift built in — what you see is what you pay.
The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries cost £5 extra, are free for under-18s, and open only 10am to 3pm. The timed gallery ticket must be bought together with Abbey entry.
Hours
Monday to Friday 9.30am to 3.30pm, Saturday 9.30am to 3pm. Selected “Abbey Lates” run 4.30pm to 6pm. It is a working church and can close at short notice for services and state occasions.
London Pass holders get in, but must reserve rather than walk up. Online tickets now include an annual upgrade — three visits for one ticket price, with no need to pre-book the return trips.
