Two things worth knowing before you buy. The Sistine Chapel is included in standard admission — there is no separate chapel ticket, whatever a reseller implies. And the Museums are closed every Sunday except the last of the month, which is the most common wasted morning in Rome.

So booking ahead is optional. It buys you a queue position, not access. In July or August that €5 is worth paying; on a wet Tuesday in February it may not be.
Tickets are valid on the issue date only and are not refundable under any circumstances.
Opening pattern
- Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm, last entry 6pm.
- Closed Sundays, except the last Sunday of the month when entry is free, 9am to 2pm, last entry 12.30pm.
The dress code is enforced at the door
No sleeveless tops, no low-cut garments, no shorts above the knee, no miniskirts, no hats. People are refused entry over this daily, and the ticket is not refunded when it happens. Shoulders and knees covered, for everyone.
Inside the Sistine Chapel there is no photography or filming of any kind, and silence is asked for and enforced.
