Sacre-Coeur Tickets: The Dome Entrance Is Outside Security

Going into Sacré-Cœur is free. No ticket, no booking, open 6.30am to 10.30pm daily without exception. If someone is selling you basilica entry, they are selling you nothing.

The dome is the paid part, at €8 for 16 and over, €5 for children up to 15.

Find the right door first

This is the thing that wastes people’s time. The dome entrance is outside the basilica’s security checkpoint, down a separate staircase into the moat on the left-hand side of the building.

Visitors routinely queue through basilica security, get inside, look for the way up, and discover they have to come back out and queue again. Do the dome first, then the basilica.

What the climb involves

• Roughly 280 to 300 steps on a narrow spiral staircase. No lift.
• Not advised if you have limited mobility or dislike enclosed spaces.
• Dome hours 10.30am to 9.30pm, last admission 9pm, with a short midday break and seasonal variation.

You cannot book it in advance

The basilica is explicit: tickets are bought at the desk on site, without exception. Any website selling “Sacré-Cœur dome tickets” online is a reseller adding margin to an €8 walk-up ticket. The Paris Museum Pass does not cover it either.
