Opera Garnier Tickets: Non-Europeans Now Pay 67% More

Palais Garnier moved to EEA and non-EEA pricing in January 2026: 15 euros against 25. The auditorium also closes without warning for rehearsals.

Two things to know, and the second one is the one that ruins visits.

1. The price now depends on where you are from

From 13 January 2026 the Palais Garnier is one of five French cultural sites charging non-European visitors more.

VisitEEANon-EEA
Self-guided€15€25
Ages 13–25€10€20
Guided tour€25€35
After-hours tour€32€42

Under-12s are free. Worth knowing: the lower rate goes to EEA nationals or residents of more than four months, so a non-EU citizen living in Europe pays €15, not €25.

2. The auditorium closes without warning

Most people come for Chagall’s painted ceiling. The Opera’s own wording is that rehearsals cause frequent and unpredictable closures of the auditorium — and there is no day-by-day status page online.

You pay the same either way, and a closed auditorium earns no refund. The only way to check is to ring 08 92 89 90 90, or +33 1 71 25 24 23 from abroad, weekdays 9am to 7pm. Mornings early in the week give the better odds.

Practicalities

Online booking is effectively mandatory — no visit tickets are sold at the building. Entry 10am to 4pm, the palace closes at 5pm, last admission an hour before. Allow about 90 minutes. Luggage and travel bags are banned. The Paris Museum Pass does not cover it.

The guides aim for practical detail and a clear recommendation rather than an undifferentiated list. Where a town has no good option, the guides say so and point to the nearest one that does. Guides are AI drafted. A small number have been checked against official listings, and those say so on the page.
