Belvedere Tickets: The Kiss Is in the Upper Belvedere

If you have one hour in Vienna and want Klimt, buy the Upper on its own and walk the garden between the two palaces for free.
Timed entry is not optional
Both palaces run compulsory time slots. You pick one when you book and you are admitted in that window. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing, which sounds generous and is not — the Klimt room is on the first floor and thirty minutes is barely enough to reach it, look properly, and come back down.
Practical
The Klimt room is the busiest square metres in Vienna between about 11am and 3pm. First slot of the day is a different experience. Large bags and backpacks go in the lockers; the cloakroom is free.
