Castel Sant’Angelo Tickets: First Monday of the Month Is 5 Euros

Castel Sant’Angelo is closed on Mondays. With one exception, and it is the best-value ticket in Rome right now.

Under I lunedì di Castello, running 3 August to December 2026, it opens on the first Monday of each month, 2pm to 8pm, for €5.00 instead of €18. Cheapest and quietest way in.

Mind the price you were quoted

Full admission rose to €18.00 on 1 July 2026. This is worth flagging because the concessionaire’s own website still shows €12.00 — that page is stale. The Ministry of Culture and the July decree both say €18.

  • Full €18.00, plus a €1.00 booking fee
  • EU citizens 18–25: €2.00
  • EU under-18s: free
  • First Sunday of every month: free for everyone

Two museums included until the end of the year

Until 31 December 2026, a Castel Sant’Angelo ticket also admits you free to two house-museums — Casa Museo Hendrik Christian Andersen and Casa Museo Boncompagni Ludovisi — one entry each, on the same day or within the two days following.

Hours and passes

Tuesday to Sunday 9am to 7.30pm, last admission 6.30pm. Closed 25 December and 1 January. Booking is recommended rather than required for individuals, and mandatory for groups.

The Roma Pass is accepted on both the 48-hour and 72-hour cards; present it at the counter.

One thing we could not confirm: whether the Terrazza dell’Angelo is included in the standard route. No official page says either way, so we are not guessing.
