Deutsches Museum Tickets: The Mine and the Ships Are Shut Until 2028
Half the Deutsches Museum has been closed since 2022 and reopens in 2028. The mine, the shipping hall and the planetarium are all shut. Entry is 16 euros.

Do not promise a child the mine. The Deutsches Museum is halfway through a modernisation split into two phases, and the second half of the building has been closed since July 2022 with a target reopening of 2028.
Currently closed
The Bergwerk — the walk-through mine — the shipping hall, the planetarium, astronomy, the Ehrensaal, timekeeping, energy technology, geodesy, environment and the Altamira cave replica. Three of those are among the main reasons people come.
Currently open
Around twenty exhibitions from the completed first phase: historic and modern aviation, space flight, robotics, chemistry, atomic physics, nano and biotechnology, musical instruments, classical optics, photography and film, electronics, mathematics, bridges and hydraulic engineering, health, agriculture, the model railway, the Foucault pendulum and the Kinderreich. It is still a very good museum. It is not the whole one.
One warning worth flagging: the museum’s own German page listing exhibitions under construction reads as though the open and closed halves are reversed. We went with the live all-exhibitions listing and the modernisation microsite, which agree with each other.
Price and entry
- Adult €16 from 28 January 2026, up from €15. Reduced €9, family card €33, under-6s free.
- Annual pass €50, covering all three Munich sites — Museumsinsel, the Verkehrszentrum and the Flugwerft Schleissheim.
- No timed slots and no booking fee. Buy at the door if you like.
Open daily 09:00–17:00, last admission 16:30, closed about eight days a year. Fully barrier-free, with free wheelchair and rollator loan at the information desk. Budget two to four hours rather than a full day — there is simply less open than there used to be.
