Not the third Wednesday of the month, which is what older guides say. Every Wednesday. The rest of the week runs on a split timetable: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 09:00–19:00 with last entry at 18:00; Friday to Sunday 10:00–20:00, last entry 19:00. Also closed 1 January, Easter and 25 December.
No booking, no entry
The gallery’s own wording is blunt: “Access to the Gallery will not be granted without a reservation.” This is a family palace with limited capacity, not a museum absorbing walk-in crowds.
Price, and the audio guide worth having
€16 on site, €17 online. That single euro is the booking fee — it is priced in rather than added at checkout, which is refreshingly honest. Reduced online €1. Free for under-12s and for disability card holders.
The audio guide is included, and it is not a throwaway: it is narrated by Jonathan Doria Pamphilj, who lives in the building, talking about his own family’s paintings and his own ancestors. It is the best audio guide in Rome and people leave it on the shelf because they assume it costs extra.
The Private Apartments are a separate paid visit. There is no cloakroom and the lift is not in visitor use; the gallery publishes no wheelchair-route statement, so confirm before booking if you need one.
