Hungarian Parliament Tickets: Non-EEA Visitors Pay Exactly Double

There is no single price for the Hungarian Parliament. There are two, and the gap is exactly double.

The 2026 rates

  • EEA citizens — 7,000 Ft. Students aged 6–24 with a Hungarian or ISIC card, 3,500 Ft.
  • Everyone else — 14,000 Ft. Non-EEA students 6–24, 7,000 Ft.
  • Under-6s free. Prices include VAT and are quoted in forint only.

Two details people get wrong. The split is EEA, not EU — Norwegian, Icelandic and Liechtenstein passports get the lower rate; British, American, Canadian and Australian ones do not. And it goes by citizenship, not residence: an American living in Budapest still pays 14,000 Ft. ID is checked at the ticket office and again at admission.

There is no official euro price. Anything quoted in euro is a reseller adding a margin.

Guided only, 45 minutes

No self-guided access exists. The tour covers the Main Staircase, the Dome Hall with the Holy Crown, and the chamber of the former House of Peers — not the working debating chamber. Staffed guides work in six languages; audio guides cover around twenty more. An outside guide can accompany you but may never lead the tour: an Office employee always escorts.

Your booking can be cancelled on you

The Office of the National Assembly reserves the right to cancel visits at any time, regardless of bookings, for state and protocol events. This is not theoretical — notices go up with days of warning, sometimes less. It is a working parliament first.

Open daily 08:00–16:00 in winter and 08:00–18:00 from April to October. The published 2026 fee schedule lists every discount category and the Budapest Card is not among them.
