Groeningemuseum Tickets: Closed Mondays While the Belfry Is Open

The Groeningemuseum is 15 euros and closed Mondays, while the Belfry ten minutes away opens daily. That mismatch ruins a lot of Bruges Mondays.

Bruges’ great collection of Flemish Primitives — van Eyck, Memling, Bosch, six centuries of Belgian painting — is €15, and it is closed on Mondays while the Belfry a few minutes’ walk away opens every day. That mismatch is the classic Bruges itinerary failure.

Price and hours

  • Adult €15, under-26s €13, under-13s free. Same online or at the door.
  • 1 April to 2 November: 10:00–18:00. 3 November to 31 March: 09:30–17:00 — note the winter opening is earlier, not later.
  • Last entry 30 minutes before closing. Booking is not mandatory and no visitor cap is published.

The permanent collection, shop and facilities are included, along with free activity booklets. Guided tours and the €13.50 visitor’s guide are extra.

The Musea Brugge Card

€49 standard, €37 under 26, €25 under 18. It covers twelve locations once each — Groeningemuseum, Belfort, Gruuthusemuseum, Sint-Janshospitaal, the Town Hall, BRUSK and others.

Two things about it that matter. It is valid 72 hours from your first visit, not from purchase, and can be activated up to a year after buying — genuinely generous. But it is not a skip-the-queue pass: you must still reserve a time slot online for each museum, and a card with no Belfry slot booked gets you nothing at the Belfry.

The card rose to €49 on 1 April 2026 and gained the new BRUSK art hall on 8 May 2026, so any guide quoting an older price or a card without BRUSK is stale.

The guides aim for practical detail and a clear recommendation rather than an undifferentiated list. Where a town has no good option, the guides say so and point to the nearest one that does. Guides are AI drafted. A small number have been checked against official listings, and those say so on the page.
