Belfry of Bruges Tickets: Miss Your Slot and the Ticket Expires

Bruges Belfry entry is a hard timed slot — arrive outside it and the ticket expires. Last entry is a full hour before closing.

The Belfort is the one Bruges ticket that punishes casual timing, in two separate ways.

The slot is binding

Entry runs in timed slots, roughly 15 to 25 people starting the climb every 20 minutes. Musea Brugge’s wording is blunt: stick to the start time, or you may be made to wait or refused for safety reasons, and otherwise your ticket will expire. This is not the advisory time slot you get elsewhere.

Last entry is an hour before closing

Every other Musea Brugge site closes admissions 30 minutes before the doors. The Belfry closes them 60 minutes before, because you have 366 steps to climb and come back down. That extra half hour catches people out constantly.

Price and hours

  • €16 at weekends, on public holidays, and every day from 1 April to 2 November. €15 on winter weekdays. Children 7–17 €14 / €13; under-7s free. Same price online or at the door.
  • 1 April to 2 November: daily 09:00–20:00. 3 November to 31 March: weekdays 10:00–18:00, weekends 09:00–20:00.
  • Closed 25 December and 1 January. It can also close at short notice in strong wind.

The climb

366 steps, one narrow spiral staircase, no lift, and descending visitors have priority. Musea Brugge recommends visiting only if you are in good condition. Wheelchair users cannot visit the tower — the courtyard and ground level only. Tactile models are available for visually impaired visitors.

The Musea Brugge Card covers it, but the card is not a skip-the-queue pass: you still book a slot, and the Belfry is the location Musea Brugge itself flags as often having a queue.

Sammie O publishes Germ Trips, a travel guide covering hotels, restaurants, airport transfers and chauffeur services. The guides aim for practical detail and a clear recommendation rather than an undifferentiated list. Where a town has no good option, the guides say so and point to the nearest one that does. Guides are AI drafted. A small number have been checked against official listings, and those say so on the page.
