Hallgrímskirkja Tower Tickets: You Cannot Book Ahead at All
The Hallgrímskirkja tower cannot be booked in advance by anyone. Tickets are 1,500 ISK, sold only in the church shop on the day.

Price
- Adults 1,500 ISK. Children 7–16, 200 ISK.
- 1,000 ISK for over-67s, students with ID and holders of a disability card. Groups of ten or more, 10% off. School groups free.
- Entering the nave is free. Only the tower is ticketed.
Two warnings on price. The church’s legacy website still lists 1,000 ISK and is the source of most wrong figures in circulation; Visit Reykjavík’s listing lags too. The current price is 1,500 ISK. The church takes several foreign currencies in cash and most cards, but gives change only in Icelandic krónur.
The lift stops one floor short
There is a lift and it reaches the eighth floor. The open viewing platform is on the ninth, up a short staircase — so the top is not wheelchair accessible, though the nave fully is.
Check the day, not just the season
Summer 09:00–20:00 with last tower admission 19:45; winter 10:00–17:00, last admission 16:45. But the parish publishes a day-by-day calendar because the tower and nave close for services, concerts and private ceremonies — typically Sunday late mornings, Saturday around the noon organ concert, and short windows on Wednesday and Monday.
