Sky Lagoon Tickets: The Ritual Closes an Hour Before the Lagoon
Sky Lagoon’s seven-step Skjól Ritual closes a full hour before the lagoon does. Book a late slot and you pay for something you cannot complete.
Sky Lagoon is ten minutes from central Reykjavík, and its one real booking trap is about time of day, not price.
Do not book a late slot
The Skjól Ritual and the bar close a full hour before the lagoon does. Arrive ninety minutes before closing and you have paid for a ritual you cannot finish. The café closes half an hour before; guests leave the water thirty minutes before.
Packages
- Sér — from 17,990 ISK, with private changing rooms, private shower and vanity.
- Saman — from 14,990 ISK, public changing rooms. Same lagoon, same ritual.
- Youth rates are half the adult price on both. Summer Indulge packages for two run June to late September.
The site renders prices in your local currency by location, so the ISK figures above are the operator’s own and anything else you see is a conversion.
The ritual is seven steps
Lagoon, then a 5°C cold plunge, the turf house, a cold mist, the Mýkt body scrub, a 46°C steam, the Saft crowberry elixir, and back to the lagoon. Included in both packages, once per visit. Older guides describing five or six steps predate the current sequence.
Under-12s are not admitted
Absolutely, and it is enforced with ID checks. Ages 12 to 14 must be with a guardian over 18. Adults are limited to three alcoholic drinks per visit.
Its real advantage over the Blue Lagoon
Not the price. Location. Sky Lagoon is in Kópavogur, far from the Reykjanes eruption zone, and has never closed for volcanic activity. It publishes no force majeure carve-out because it has not needed one.
One formality: cancellations must be in writing by email, 24 hours ahead, for groups of ten or fewer. There is no self-service cancellation.
Access is good — an accessibility suite, lifts into the lagoon, into the cold plunge and into the turf house, and an on-site wheelchair for the ritual itself.
