Most guides still say the Palau can only be seen on a guided tour or at a concert. That is out of date. A self-guided visit now runs at €20, takes about 50 minutes, and comes with a brochure in 17 languages — far more than the guided tour offers.
The catch is the clock
Visits run 9am to 3.30pm, and 3.30pm is the last entry, not the closing time. There is no afternoon option unless you hold a concert ticket. The Palau is a morning attraction. Plan it first, not last.

On the guided tour, over-65s and under-35s pay €20, Catalonia residents €14, under-10s free. Self-guided has a €60 family pack.
Book online, and here is why
Unusually, the box office adds €2 per ticket on top of the online price. Booking ahead is cheaper and skips the queue.
The exception: 20% discounts for large families, single-parent families and Barcelona Card holders are box-office only and cannot be claimed online. If you qualify for one of those, the €2 is worth paying.
