Pinacoteca di Brera Tickets: “Grande Brera” Is a Different Ticket
The 15 euro Brera ticket does not cover Palazzo Citterio. The combined Grande Brera ticket is 20 euros, and free Sundays still need a reservation.

When Palazzo Citterio opened in December 2024 the press called the whole thing “Grande Brera”, and visitors reasonably concluded that one ticket now covered both buildings. It does not.
Two buildings, three tickets
- Pinacoteca di Brera — €15. The old masters: Piero della Francesca, Mantegna’s Dead Christ, Raphael, Caravaggio, Hayez.
- Palazzo Citterio — €12. The modern collections — Jucker, Vitali, Mattioli, Jesi.
- Grande Brera combined — €20. You pick a date and time for the Pinacoteca; Citterio is then valid that day plus the following six.
Reduced rates are unusually generous and unusually specific: EU visitors 18–25 pay €2, and over-65s pay €1 — but only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Timed entry, and a fifteen-minute grace
You book a day and time and present a code. Arrive more than fifteen minutes late and you are refused. Brera does not run a quarterly scramble like the Last Supper and rarely sells out, so booking a day or two ahead is usually enough.
One practical warning: the booking subdomain has been serving an expired security certificate, which will alarm browsers. It is the official channel regardless.
Free Sundays still need booking
The first Sunday of every month is free — and still requires a reservation. People turn up without one and are turned away from a free museum, which is a particularly bitter way to lose a morning.
Open Tuesday to Sunday 08:30–19:15 with last entry at 18:00. Closed Mondays, 1 May, 25 December and 1 January. Audio guides €5, guided tours €8 on top of admission. Note that at Palazzo Citterio guided tours of any kind are not allowed, including your own.
Access is strong: a step-free entrance with a lift on via Fiori Oscuri, two mobility scooters at the desk, tactile bas-reliefs of key works and a sign-language video guide.
