The Shard Tickets: Claim the Weather Voucher Before You Leave
The View from The Shard gives a free return visit if you cannot see three of five landmarks, but the voucher is issued only as you leave. Ask before you go.
The Shard has the best-defined weather guarantee of any London viewpoint, and the most easily missed. The voucher is handed out as you exit, on the day, and cannot be claimed afterwards — however bad the visibility was.
How the View Guarantee works
It triggers if you cannot see at least three of five named landmarks: the London Eye, the Walkie Talkie, Tower Bridge, One Canada Square and St Paul’s Cathedral. The duty manager authorises it on the day.
- Return vouchers are valid at least three months. The deadline is for booking the return, not taking it.
- No extensions are granted.
- It applies to paid tickets only — not complimentary, third-party, school, promotional or private-hire tickets.
So if it is grey, ask at the exit. Do not walk out and think about it later.
Prices are not published
Unusually, The Shard prints no adult rate anywhere on its own site — everything runs through a dynamic booking engine, and the terms say only that the price is whatever is quoted when you order. The two official figures published are “kids tickets from £10” and free entry for under-4s.
Third-party figures circulate, but they are stale or converted from dollars, so we are not repeating them here. Check the live price on the day.
Being late is expensive
Entry is allowed up to 15 minutes after your printed time. Beyond that there is a £15 re-booking charge, subject to availability and with no guarantee of entry. Changing your date or time in advance also costs £15. All sales are otherwise final.
Walk-up tickets are sold at the desk, so booking is recommended rather than required. Open 10am to 10pm, last entry an hour before closing, and once inside you may stay until close. Included on all London Pass tiers with a booking.
