Belém Tower Tickets: Reopened, and Capped Hard

The Torre de Belém reopened on 27 May 2026 after restoration, and it came back with rules it never had before. There is now a hard daily cap on visitors and entry runs in 30-minute slots. Admission is €15.
The cap is the thing to plan around
Reported figures put the daily limit somewhere in the region of 600 to 900 people. The operator has not published an official number, so treat any specific figure you see, including that range, as unconfirmed. What is not in doubt is that the tower now sells out on busy days in a way it did not before 2024. Book as far ahead as your dates allow.
A Lisboa Card does not get you in on the day
The card covers the admission. It does not cover the slot. Card holders must still reserve a time in advance, and if the day is full the card is worth nothing at that gate. This is the same trap as Schönbrunn in Vienna, and it catches the same people.
Inside
The tower is small and vertical, built around a single narrow spiral staircase that has to carry traffic in both directions. Visitors report a light-controlled one-way system regulating who climbs and who descends — we have not been able to confirm that arrangement in official material, so take it as reported rather than certain. Either way, expect waits on the stairs and do not plan on a quick in-and-out.
It is not step-free. There is no lift and no alternative route to the upper terraces.
