Two separate things share a name. The Memorial, the outdoor plaza with the two reflecting pools, is free and open daily 8am to 8pm. The Museum, underground, is ticketed. People arrive expecting one ticket to cover both experiences and find they only ever needed one for the second.

Prices

Adult admission runs $24 to $36 depending on the date and time slot. It is genuinely dynamic, not a fixed figure. The audio guide is $11 on top.

The free windows

  • Free Mondays, 5.30pm to 7pm. Tickets are released online at 7am Eastern that same Monday, first come first served. Set an alarm; they go.
  • NY First Sundays, 4pm to 7pm, free for people who live, work or study in the New York area, with ID.

Booking and hours

Timed tickets are mandatory and bookable up to six months ahead. One free exchange if you make it at least 24 hours out. Closed Tuesdays; otherwise 9am to 7pm, last admission an hour before close. Arrive more than 30 minutes late for a booked programme and you lose it.

Sammie O

Sammie O publishes Germ Trips, a travel guide covering hotels, restaurants, airport transfers and chauffeur services. The guides aim for practical detail and a clear recommendation rather than an undifferentiated list. Where a town has no good option, the guides say so and point to the nearest one that does. Guides are AI drafted. A small number have been checked against official listings, and those say so on the page.
