Accademia Gallery Tickets: The Booking Fee Is 25%

The Accademia charges €16 for admission and adds a €4 booking fee, so a reserved ticket is €20. That surcharge is a quarter of the ticket price, which makes reserving a real decision rather than an automatic yes.

Is it worth the fee?

Booking is optional. The gallery’s own advice is that without a reservation “the wait for access may be long”, which is honest and unhelpfully vague. In practice: in summer and over holiday weekends, pay it. Off season, first thing in the morning, you will usually walk in.

What the ticket covers

All the halls, not just Michelangelo’s David: the unfinished Prisoners, the 13th to 16th century painting collection, the musical instruments collection and any temporary exhibition running at the time.

Hours

Closes at 6.50pm with last admission at 6.20pm — admission stops half an hour before closing, which catches out people arriving after an early dinner plan changes.

Closed Mondays, plus 1 January and 25 December. Both of Florence’s major galleries close the same day, so plan Monday around something else entirely.
