Gallerie dell’Accademia Tickets: The Monday Rule Changed in 2026
From 1 January 2026 the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venice closes on Mondays. Older guides describing a Monday half-day are out of date.

Venice’s great collection of Venetian painting — Bellini, Carpaccio, Giorgione, Titian, Veronese, and Leonardo’s Vitruvian Man when it is out on display — changed its opening pattern this year. From 1 January 2026 the Accademia closes on Mondays.
What changed
For years the gallery ran an odd Monday schedule: open, but only for the morning, closing early in the afternoon. A lot of published advice still describes that half-day. It no longer exists. Monday is now a full closure, in line with the rest of Italy’s state museums. If your Venice trip is short, this and the Guggenheim’s Tuesday closure sit on opposite days — which is convenient, once you know both.
Price
Adult admission is currently €20. Be aware that the Accademia’s pricing moves with its exhibition programme — the base rate and the rate during a major temporary show have been quoted differently in different places, and we could not resolve which applies on a given date from published sources. Check the figure on the ticket page for your date rather than assuming.
Worth knowing
- It is a big gallery and the rooms run in chronological order. Two hours is a fair minimum; the Carpaccio cycle alone eats half an hour.
- Last admission is well before closing time — arriving an hour before the doors shut is not enough.
- The Accademia vaporetto stop is at the foot of the wooden bridge, directly outside.
