General admission gets you the round-trip ferry, both islands, both museums and the grounds. It does not get you inside the statue. The pedestal and the crown are separate reservations, and the crown is the hardest ticket in New York to get on short notice.
What each ticket costs
General admission is from $26, fees and taxes included. Pedestal and crown reserve tickets are from $26.30 — the difference is a 30-cent reservation fee, not a big upcharge. Seniors $23, children 4 to 12 $17, under-4s free.
So the crown is not expensive. It is simply scarce.
Crown rules
- Released three to four months ahead and often sells out months in advance.
- Maximum four per household or card, and one crown reservation per person per six months.
- 377 steps in total, 162 of them a narrow spiral above the pedestal. No lift, ten minutes at the top, 42-inch minimum height, no bags.
Lockers at secondary screening take quarters only. Bring some.
Buy from the right place
Statue City Cruises is the only ferry operator authorised by the National Park Service. The NPS publishes its own warning about aggressive unauthorised sellers around The Battery who misrepresent and overcharge. Buy in advance and walk past them.
