Royal Chapel Granada Tickets: No Photographs at All
Granada’s Royal Chapel is 7 euros and bans all photography and video inside. The marble tombs are cenotaphs — the real coffins are in the crypt below.
Ferdinand and Isabella are buried here, and the chapel is €7. Two things to know before you go in.
The photography ban is absolute
No photographs and no video, anywhere inside. Not the tombs, not the retable, not the crypt. There is no permit at any price and staff enforce it. Bags and luggage are not admitted, silence is expected, and heads are uncovered.
The tombs are not the graves
The magnificent carved marble monuments are cenotaphs. The Catholic Monarchs themselves, along with Joanna of Castile and Philip the Handsome, lie in plain lead coffins in the crypt below, visible through a grille. The contrast between the two is the point of the visit, and it is the half most people walk past.
Price and hours
€7 adult, €5 for students under 25 with ID and for visitors with accredited disability. Free for under-12s with an adult. Rates changed on 1 January 2025.
Monday to Saturday 10:00–14:00 and 15:00–19:00; Sundays and liturgical holidays from 11:30. Closed Good Friday, 25 December and 1 January. An audio guide app is included with admission.
One accessibility complication
Reduced-mobility access runs through the Cathedral’s adapted entrance next door, which means it depends on Cathedral opening hours, not the Chapel’s. If you need that route you have to plan around two timetables at once. Guide dogs are permitted.
