Cappella Sansevero Tickets: Sold Out Is Not the End

The Veiled Christ chapel releases tickets 60 days ahead and then a further batch two days before. Photography and video are banned throughout.

The chapel holding Giuseppe Sanmartino’s Veiled Christ is small, capped and compulsory to book — and it sells out. What almost nobody knows is that a sold-out date is not final.

Two release windows

  • 60 days ahead — the main release.
  • Two days before the visit date — a further batch goes on sale. This is official policy and it is the reliable second chance.

Booking is obligatory, entry is by timed slot from 09:00, and daily entries are capped. There are no refunds after purchase.

Price

  • Adult €12. Ages 18–26 €8, ages 10–17 €6, under-9s free.
  • Disabled visitor plus companion — €7 for the pair.
  • Audio guide €3.50, about 25 minutes, in five languages.

No photographs. None.

Photography and video are prohibited throughout, and there is no permit at any price. Phones are to stay away. Given what the veil does in person, that is a mercy.

Open daily 09:00–19:00, last admission 18:30, closed Tuesdays.

One accessibility limit worth knowing

Wheelchair users can see the whole nave and the sacristy. The underground cavea — and therefore the Anatomical Machines — is not accessible, reached only by a narrow nineteenth-century spiral stair. The museum publishes a free audio description for visitors with documented visual impairment, easy-read and symbol guides, and sign-language video tours.

The guides aim for practical detail and a clear recommendation rather than an undifferentiated list. Where a town has no good option, the guides say so and point to the nearest one that does. Guides are AI drafted. A small number have been checked against official listings, and those say so on the page.
