House of Terror Tickets: You Cannot Buy Them Online
Budapest’s House of Terror sells no tickets online at all. It is 4,000 Ft at the desk, the desk shuts at 17:30, and it closes on Mondays.

Every skip-the-line e-ticket you have seen advertised for the House of Terror is a fiction. The museum’s own page says it in capitals: online ticket sales are not available. There is no e-ticket, no timed slot, no advance purchase for individuals.
Price
- Adult — 4,000 Ft, cash desk only.
- Reduced — 2,000 Ft, but only for EEA citizens aged 6–25 and 62–70.
- Free: under-6s, EEA citizens over 70, disabled visitors and a companion, teachers.
- Free on the first Sunday of the month for EEA citizens under 26 and their guardians.
Groups of ten or more can book ahead by phone, and guided tours for groups run 15,000 Ft in Hungarian or 20,000 Ft in English or German, booked about ten days out. Individuals queue.
Two ways to lose the visit
It is closed on Mondays, and the ticket office shuts at 17:30 even though the museum runs to 18:00. Arriving at twenty to six on a Tuesday gets you nothing.
Open Tuesday to Sunday 10:00–18:00. Closed 1 January and 24–26 December.
Inside
Self-guided, through the former headquarters of both the Arrow Cross and the communist secret police, ending in the basement cells. Photography is prohibited throughout the exhibition, except the tank in the atrium. Bags larger than A3 must go in the free cloakroom; lockers need a 100 Ft coin. The shop can be entered without a ticket.
